ONKOD President Dr. Yavuz Selim Çınar said: “Turkey’s success in organ transplantation is being watched with interest around the world. That’s why many patients from abroad come to our country for organ transplants. Turkey has become a preferred country for organ transplants. Nearly 300 foreign patients annually recover in Turkey and return home.” “We used to say, ‘We went to the US for this training.’ Now surgeons from the US are coming to our country to receive transplant training. They come to our country to learn about living organ transplantation. This is a great success for us.”
BURSA (AA) – SINAN BALCIKOCA – Dr. Yavuz Selim Çınar, President of the Organ Transplant Coordinators Association (ONKOD), said that Turkey’s success in organ transplantation is being watched with interest around the world and that it has become a preferred country in this field.
Dr. Çınar, speaking to an Anadolu Agency (AA) reporter, emphasized that every healthy person may need an organ at some point in their life, and that organ donation is therefore very important. Çınar emphasized the importance of donations from individuals who have experienced brain death, stating that everyone should be aware of this issue.
Çınar noted that nearly 2 million patients worldwide and approximately 26,000 in Turkey are on organ waiting lists, explaining that these patients will be able to hold on to life with donated organs.
Çınar emphasized that Turkey is among the leading countries in organ transplantation, saying:
“Turkey’s success in organ transplantation is being watched with interest worldwide. That’s why many patients from abroad come to our country for organ transplants. Turkey has become a preferred country for organ transplants. With both its technical equipment and surgical expertise, surgeries and transplants are performed under better conditions in our country than in many developed countries. This is why many patients choose our country for transplants. Annually, nearly 300 foreign patients recover in Turkey and return home.”
“They come to our country to learn about live organ transplantation.”
Çınar, describing Turkey's significant success in organ transplantation, noted:
“Transplant surgeons from around the world, particularly the US, UK, and Central Asian and Far Eastern countries, who perform organ transplants or want to further their skills, participate in surgeries in our country. People used to say, ‘We went to the US to get this training.’ Now, surgeons from the US are coming to our country to receive transplantation training. They come to our country to learn about live organ transplantation. This is a tremendous achievement for us.”
